Peta is Director and founder of Vital Conversations. For 15 years she was Executive Manager of an organisation providing corporate services and overseeing up to 6,000 individual and workplace counselling, consulting and training sessions every year. With a passion for conversations that help to create change, Peta studied the behaviours of individuals, high performing teams and leaders in organisations for many years looking for patterns of conversation that created change. Her publication of The Vibrant Workplace(TM) Approach in New York in 2001 was described by US Journal Editor Dr Judah Ronch has been described as a unique and “profoundly overdue” approach to resolving challenges.

Peta is a fully registered Psychologist, member of the Australian Psychological Society and a registered National Health Practitioner with over 20 years’ experience.  She has diverse clinical and organisational experience and has lectured in both Executive Coaching and Psychology at Post-Graduate and Masters levels.  Her principles of strength-based, innovative and cutting edge practice have seen her sought after as a Psychologist, Coach and Consultant.  Peta has published in journal articles, and trained over 15,000 professionals.   Described by clients as passionate, down-to-earth and a master story teller, her present duties include personality and leadership profiling, coaching, supervision, consultancy on leadership development, workplace mental health and clinical work.

When Peta isn’t at work, she’s with her family, writing, trying to keep fit and supporting a number of community organisations.

Melanie is a dynamic and engaging therapist, coach and facilitator who is results focused, able to provide keen insight into a client, group or team in a professional, warm and genuine way. She has worked with a variety of public and private sector organisations.

Strategic and considered in her approach to organisational development, clinical session and coaching, Melanie helps her clients to quickly understand their needs and define a helpful path forward. Melanie has contributed to empirical research in the field of Executive Coaching and is passionate about having the right conversation to help individuals achieve their goals.

Melanie is a fully registered psychologist and member of the Australian Psychological Society. Her professional training in commerce, counselling and organisational psychology give her a unique perspective on giving people the tools to flourish as individuals and leaders, both in a team and as part of the wider organisation. She has significant professional experience in organisational development interventions such as change management, leadership development, culture change, grievance management, organisational restructure and talent management.

With a strong understanding and experience in both public and private sector  environments, Melanie is passionate about individuals and organisations reaching their full potential and achieving meaningful and sustainable change.

When Melanie isn’t at work, she is usually close to, or on the beach, spending time with her family and her friends, and when she’s not doing those things, she loves to go for a run.

Alisa Cardaci

Alisa Cardaci

Executive Coach / Business Development

More about Alisa:

As a facilitator and coach, Alisa works with teams and individuals using empirically valid, constructive, strengths based models to develop insight and understanding of themselves. The outcome is that clients are able to explore and test out different ways of thinking and acting in the workplace.

Prior to becoming a professional coach, Alisa worked in sales and marketing, successfully supporting her colleagues and customers, including individuals, small businesses and medium to large corporations, to develop themselves and/or their businesses in a sustainable and successful ways.

Alisa has coached and facilitated workshops for people in many different organisations and industries; including Not-for-Profit executives and teams, frontline, middle and executive level managers in large national and multinational organisations, small to medium business owners, and individuals.

She has used a variety of assessment tools in a coaching context; HBDI, 360 degree feedback and is also accredited and experienced in delivering Hogan and DiSC profiles. Alisa uses many different coaching tools and techniques to support her clients through change, including, but not limited to, solution focused, narrative and positive psychology coaching practices.

Alisa’s approach is passionate yet realistic, disciplined yet personal. She creates a safe, supportive and constructive space to allow clients to develop insight into themselves, helping them to be more successful and productive in their workplace.

Donna Viner

Donna Viner

Senior Psychologist- Clinical Team

Works as: Senior Psychologist and Mental Health, resilience and organisational wellbeing trainer

More about Donna:

Donna is passionate about decreasing the stigma around mental health and encouraging help seeking behaviours for overall wellbeing. For 3.5 years, as the national lead for implementing a Mental Health Strategy within a contract Mining company, she had the opportunity to train up over 200 Supervisors and Employees in Mental Health First Aid across Australia, embed a culture that recognised the importance of mental health in employee’s fitness for work and be actively involved with innovative approaches to improving individual resilience. This role allowed the opportunity to gain three National industry awards for the Health team’s accomplishments and present the project to a Western Australian parliamentary enquiry.

She has effectively worked within the Employee Assistance Program industry for 6 years and established counseling clinics in remote WA regions of the Pilbara and Goldfields on a fly in / fly out basis. An enthusiastic and engaging Facilitator on a variety of mental health topics and an accredited beyondblue Trainer of their National Workplace Program and a Mental Health First Aid Instructor.

Donna is particularly interested in psychological health, mentally healthy workplaces, innovative early intervention health promotion, and personal and organisational resilience. She has completed a Bachelors’ degree in Psychology at Murdoch University and gained her ‘4 + 2’ registration as a Psychologist whilst working within the vocational rehabilitation industry. She enjoys keeping up to date with ongoing developments within the field of psychology and applying this to assist clients with positive outcomes.

Donna is a fully registered psychologist and member of the Australian Psychological Society with nearly 20 years’ experience. Ten of these years directly consulting to or within the Mining sector and exposure to various other sectors including local government, private and government agencies.

Cesar Ariza

Cesar Ariza

Registered Psychologist

Cesar is a registered psychologist with over twenty years of experience, eleven of them in Australia. Cesar is a skilled psychologist who works in coaching, clinical, training, critical and traumatic incidence response settings.

Through his work he has developed an ample understanding of individual’s qualities, potential, challenges and pressing issues; and thanks to this awareness he implements a model of coaching based on collaboration, accurate information and pragmatism that results in increased self-efficacy, transformation and personalised solutions to their areas of concern.

His work approach is underpinned by extensive training in psychodynamics, neurobiology and ethics (moral psychology). Over the years and in response to an evolving society he has introduced relevant forms of therapy including CBT, solution-focussed interventions, existential therapy, mindfulness-based interventions and neuroscience.

Cesar’s qualifications include a Masters Degree in Counselling, A Bachelor (Hons) in Psychology (Assessed by the APS as equivalent to an Australian Masters of Psychology) and a Graduate Diploma in Ethics and Values Education. He is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society since 2006.

Fluent in English and Spanish, Cesar is comfortable rendering services in any of these languages.

Tanya Stonier

Tanya Stonier


Tanya is a Certified Practising Accountant with an extensive background in management accounting. She has experience in oil and gas, construction, building materials, professional services and not-for profit organisations and has worked in Australia and the United Kingdom.

Tanya’s role at Vital Conversations is to manage the finance function of the business as well as perform some Client Services work. Tanya’s strength lies in improving internal processes and providing meaningful financial information to support the business function.

Michelle Stephenson

Consultant People and Culture

Michelle is an Organisational Development Consultant at Vital Conversations. She has a keen interest in change management, psychometric assessment and career transitions. With her Master’s degree in Organisational Psychology at Murdoch University near completion, Michelle has gained experience in a number of areas including change management, training, wellbeing, culture, recruitment and selection and psychometric assessment.

To date, Michelle’s employment at Vital Conversations has been varied with notable contributions to several organisational restructures, and various agency based relocations. As such, she has a sound understanding of the factors contributing to successful change management, and implementing good workplace management strategies.

Michelle is a dedicated and hard-working consultant who is found by others to be approachable, polite, assertive and business-like.

Teesha Baines

Consultant People and Culture

Teesha is a psychologist and a People and Culture Consultant at Vital Conversations. She has recently completed a Masters degree in Industrial and Organisational Psychology during which she gained practical experience in psychometric assessment for selection, organisational development, and measurement in both the public and private sectors. Teesha is particularly passionate about improving workplace diversity and wellbeing, and working from a positive psychology approach to assist individuals, teams, and organisations.

Ryan Ng

Organisational Consultant & Psychologist

Ryan is a Consultant at Vital Conversations who is motivated by his passion for helping his clients achieve personal and organisational development. As a Registered Psychologist and Member of the Australian Psychological Society, his areas of expertise is in personality, core values, organisational culture and development.

Ryan’s background is in organisational psychology, technology and data science; and has considerable experience in a range of areas including psychometric assessment, survey development, and statistical analysis. His key role at Vital Conversations is developing and maintaining the Biggest Mental Health Check-in alongside Peta Slocombe and the team.

A skilled educator and assessor, Ryan’s style is described as energetic, knowledgeable and down-to-earth. Ryan’s innovativeness and strive for continuous improvement makes him a sought after professional – we are proud to have him as part of our team.
